Posting while watching one of the tech shows on a business channel. They telling how to set a strong password. They also comparing HTC Hero with iPhone 3GS when HTC has already replaced Hero with Legend in the local market...lol

Just thought to rant!

It is probably because 'tech shows' are not aimed at the technologically knowledgeable, since it is a quite small subset of the customer base.

Very true. If the person who was watching the show was tech savvy they wouldn't be watching it on TV. Heck, I haven't watched cable since 1996.

Many tech shows only discuss products and issues that are related to products sold by their
advertisers. Do you know of any good ones ?

Well, there are two good Danish ones that I know of, So Ein Ding on DR2, and Troldspejlet on DR1. So Ein Ding is an excellent gadget show, and Troldspejlet is pretty good for video games and pop-culture.

and they seem to be quite smitten by Apple products.

Alot of TV show hosts are biased, at least the shows that play here, so I don't really watch them.

I can't blame them, I'm biased too. I'd probably compare a pentium 2 with windows vista VS core i7 running ubuntu, and then go on to tell how ubuntu is faster than vista.

An unholy alliance of Lug Radio live, three video cameras, Top Chef, and American Idol...

...might be worth thinking over.

I'm against it, personally.

On the other hand, a holy alliance of American Idol, Top Chef, three video cameras, and Lug Radio Live...

...HAS POTENTIAL!!!

When Vista came out .. MS gave away 3000 buck laptops to HUNDREDS of reviewers. Equipped with Vista that had been TWEAKED by MS to be as efficient as possible and without any trial ware and such. All to garner POSITIVE reviews .. it worked .. FOR A WHILE.

There are some "national" reviewers that have received Mercedes Benz cars from MS.

All of this is TOTALLY LEGAL. (not moral, but LEGAL)

Meh, usual MS bashing with no source.

You're right, there isn't much on TV anymore for the computer geek, or at least not after TechTV was eaten-up by G4. Now'days as many others I catch many of the TWiT podcasts and enjoy watching TWiT Live (http://live.twit.tv) when I can, plus I like the other Linux-based shows like Linux Link Tech Show and Linux Outlaws. I used to like Geek News Central Podcast, but anymore it's like an hour advertisement for itself and its sponsors plus cheesy contests.

But in days past I have to say I was a HUGE fan of Computer Chronicles, which I watched for years, even before I got into computers as a kid. But they still have the archived shows on Archive.org (http://www.archive.org/details/computerchronicles) which are great.

Also MSNBC used to have The Site (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Site) which was a weekly computer show that was amazing! It was the precursor to ZDTV which became TechTV, plus for any Leo Laporte fans, Leo was DevNull, the animated co-host to Soledad O'Brien.

CNet used to also have a few weekly television shows that were pretty good, and they even had what I think was one of the first 'tech networks' though they tried to do it online and in the days when most people had dial-up. It's still around, but honestly CNet could've been what TechTv became if they would've played their cards right.

Now'days I think the spin-offs from the TechTV guys have the best content, namely TWiT, Revision3, DL.TV, and others along with the various Linux-themed podcasts.
