freeglut in the repo's is out of date: 2.4.0-6.1ubuntu1 where the newest version is 2.6.0
it was reported here as well https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/freeglut/+bug/499415
but I still can't find the new version anywhere...
