When I play games like Tremulous, Warsow, Warzone2100, etc., My computer randomly freezes every now and then. When it freezes, it does not unfreeze. i have to reboot using Ctrl + Alt + SysRq + b every time, or hold down the power button. Freezes result in (you guessed it) frozen display and looping the last second of sound.

Any suggestions would be welcome.

Thanks in advance,

Has it always done this ? Or did it start at some point ?

It just started recently. Another problem, or another facet of the same problem, has presented itself. During the game, the sound will shut off at a random time into the game. I can continue to play the game, however. Nothing, aside from no sound, goes wrong until I exit the game. The computer freezes at the quit screen.
