It sounds like there is a 64 bit desktop install for ubuntu with Gnome,
but all the docs I have read say xubuntu will load xfce and not gnome.
What is the difference between xfce and Gnome?
I do NOT want a scaled back version, I have plenty of memory and 64-bit intel, but I dont want to install the default 32-bit either.
I also noticed some folks installing both Xfce and Gnome, and not having a good time at it.

I haven't tried this yet, will it be the one?

Thanks in advance......

Follow this link (http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download)
Click on "Alternative download options, including Ubuntu installer for Windows" to see the view as in the attached.
Mark as in the attached "Download Ubuntu 9.10" and "64-bit version"
Then click the "Begin download" button.
