I don't know if that will help, but you can try. I googled for medical dictionary linux,
but the results were few.

Do you already have a software medical directory already written for a different os, or are you looking for one compatible for Linux?

Generally vague questions = vague answers
where as specific questions = specific answers

I don't know about a medical dictionary, but I know of medical spell checking software for openoffice (linux) : http://www.e-medtools.com/openofficemedspel.html

If you do find a medical dictionary that works in linux, please post back.

There is free software to use optionally - not sure if it'll run with Wine.

This is a little late but might be helpful for others who stumble across this forum post. There are a number of medical dictionaries available as extensions for OpenOffice.org/LibreOffice.
