I'm currently running 9.04, but want to shift to 10.04. However, when I do it I want to shift my settings and stored data to 10.04. Currently I backup my home directory and /etc to an external ext3 drive using rsync.
I think that if I install the same software packages in 10.04 as in 9.04, and then just copy the backup directories from the external drive into the 10.04 installation then I'll have 10.04 but configured like my 9.04 (e.g. gnome and everything else). If this won't work what do you think I should do?
