Installing Python

I do not know if this is the place to put this, so if it isn't, someone kindly tell me. I am trying to install Python addons, Livewire, and pygames, however I cannot figure out how, I am a newbie at learning Ubuntu. If some one could help me get the commands or websites or how to install python livewire package, and pygames it would be appreciated for me.

I am running Ubuntu 9.10(that is all I know, like I said I am a newbie at this.)
