Is it possible to develop for the Iphone or the Itablet without having a mac? I believe it is c# but the API is only released for the mac is this correct?

I haven't done any quick looking into it, but most likely it's Objective C, as that is the primary development language in OSX as I recall. I also believe that you do need to be developing on a mac, unless there is some kind of emulator which has been developed (which I don't believe there is).

It's the old NeXTStep alike framework in Objective-C.

The development kit is only available for Mac OS X.

yeah he is,
flash cs5 has a cross compiler, flash -to- iphone/ipad.
then apple banned cross compiling.

so you need to buy a mac, get the SDK, and xcode ide and all other tools for mac/iphone/ipad dev

but well worth it, I think.
20% of your app sales go to apple, the 80% belongs to you, and the audience is worldwide... given they have an iphone/ipod/ipad, also if your worried about the difference between iphone/ipad ... nothing, except the resolution... you still use the iphone SDK :)
