Hi,

I use vnc to log into my Ubuntu desktop at work from home, is there a way to blank-out or lock the terminal screen while I am connected remotely, just like in windows remote login? I don't seem to find the option in vncserver to allow for that.

Also, I am aware of the workaround of starting a new X session, but I can not do that because I can not waste any processing resources.

thank you for your help,
Joe

Can't you just lock the screen with gnome-screensaver? Just click on the indicator applet and then click lock screen.

I beleive that would lock the screen on both the client and the terminal side, isn't it? I need to continue working on the client side while the lock is engaged on the terminal screen only.

Hi,

Any real solution for this plz, is it possible to login into a terminal machine using VNC and continue to work on the same X session from a remote client machine while keeping the terminal machine's display (+ keyboard and mouse) locked?

thnx,
Joe
