Cannot install

I downloaded the 9.10 netbook remix, extracted it to a usb stick and rebooted. The boot menu appears and I choose to install. After a while it complains that it can not mount the ramfs.

What could be wrong?

The machine is a Sony Vaio VGN-P70H.
