Take a look at this report:
http://beta.thehindu.com/health/medicine-and-research/article394496.ece

and this: http://www.scidev.net/En/health/news/open-source-tb-megaproject-yields-first-fruits.html

This has been published in nearly all newspapers in India in the past few weeks. IMO this is a really awesome development. If research goes open source, I think it can only be good news for patients. The speed and efficiency of projects will increase manifolds.

too bad in US is all about patents and overpriced medications/treatments

they even give them patents over human genes to whom sees them first (discovers). Genes that were not invented but were already there.

according to this our genes belong to them

so, yes christopher columbus owns the american continent and Americo owns America(tm)

good for india

if i GPL my genes,

does that mean that all descendants of my blood line can't be patented?
