10.04 Beta 2 bricked my computer

10.04 beta 1 worked like a dream with one issue, beta 2 even in recovery mode just boots till it gets to the point of saying

fsck from util-linux-ng 2.17.2
/dev/sda1: clean, 415040/45604864 files, 152174098/18239785 blocks

To get my data off I tried to boot live CD but many of the directories I want are locked? I would prefer to reserect this botched beta 2 release or find a way to reinstall on to another partition without losing data.

Post this boot script it will be helpful. Also I think your thread title is going to limit your responses, hopefully not, but it makes no sense, your computer is not bricked, and it is unlikely that it is the operating systems fault.
