I run UNR on my Asus Eee PC 900, but the screen recently broke and I have to plug into an external monitor. The monitor is recognized properly as a Dell 17" but I am stuck in 800x600 mode. How can I force it to run in 1024x600? I am tired of scrolling sideways to view web pages.

It sounds like your video card doesn't support that resolution for an external monitor, or that you need to install new drivers

Do you not have an option to change it under system>perferences>display?
Is it possible the display cannot show a higher resolution than 800x600? unlikely but i suppose possible..
Try this terminal command

xrandr -s 1024x768

or
xrandr -s 1024x600 if its that resolution you want.

hope this helps,
Eric
