Ive used cairo before. Conky looks pretty good, i look into that. im looking for something very unique. i know i could get one of the many docks like AWN or cairo, i could also customize the gnome but i dont want it to be related to MAC or Windows. I want something unique, kind of like the Ubuntu Netbook Remix idea. bunch of icons in the middle. That idea is good for a touch screen but im looking for something unique like that. different. thanks for the post. i appreciate it

Cairo-Dock's look and feel is very customizable, you can get something "different" easily.

That looks very nice right there, however I've never tweaked my interface before other than changing the colors and background images, so how would one go about getting the interface tweaked like this? I mean I know you have to download something but what do you do from there?

Whoever that is, definitely has the compiz biz going on. Is he using hot-keys to change his windows switchers? He moves from one to another effortlessly, and it all works!

He's just using Cairo-Dock with the 'appear on shortcut' option, and the 'Slide' view.
