Just installed vim on 9.10 from the newfangled Software Centre, and I was a bit surprised that I then had to go and add it to the Applications menu. So far so good, and I've got it working ... but I've had to select "Application in terminal", and I don't remember needing to do this last time. A visual clue that something's different is that I don't see a vim icon in the task bar, just a Terminal icon.

Should I be worried? can I/should I do anything to start vim just as an application, like I used to?

Solved by comparing two installations ... the one that works calls /usr/bin/gvim as the command, which then runs as an application
