View Full Version : [ubuntu] How to create a ubuntu-ubuntu network?

I have just installed ubuntu on my main pc and i can't figure out how to install a network between my main pc and my laptop, when i had windows on one and ubuntu on the other the connection was already there , and ubuntu made the connection.

There's more than one way of doing it you'll have to explain just what you want to do. Some options are giver that will let you pass files back and forth like a IM on your LAN. Samba shares which is most likely how you were doing it before and ssh.

if its linux only, go for NFS or SSHFS. it should be simpler than samba

what he is trying to do is to share the internet, his main pc had windows up to now and i installed ubuntu on his laptop a while ago and while he had ubuntu on the laptop the connection was there, it automatically had a auto eth0 on the laptop so he could connect to the internet but now that the main pc has ubuntu as well that connection is not there anymore and he wants to know how to configure a connection

its not the file transfer that he needs, its the internet sharing

up , anyone out there willing to help out :)? my brother grows more and more impatient without internet connection on his laptop :)
