Hi chaps,

I've just posted some stuff on a redesign of Nautilus along with my mockups. I don't know a huge amount about UI design, and I'm looking for feedback.

So, if you will:

(Prefer feedback as comments on the article itself but in this thread is OK too.)

Cheers!

I'm doing a user interface design class this semester, and one of the main things drilled into us is that you shouldn't look towards other UI designers for feedback :P It's the users who can really give you good feedback.

Heh, unfortunately because it's only a mockup it's a bit hard to test with real users.

There are actually two schools of thought on that matter. Some say that users never know what they want, so dont ask them. I recall watching a talk by Glenn Lipka at the Ajax Experience where he said as much. I'm not sure that I agree with everything he said but its an interesting and different point of view.

I believe this was the talk ... http://tv.adobe.com/watch/ajax-experience-2008/ux-design-for-ajax-applications-by-glen-lipka/ ... apologies if not.
