Hi All

Using Ubuntu: 9.10 (Karmic)
Kernel: 2.6.31-20-Generic
TV Tuner: Hauppauge PVR-1800
Graphics: nVidia 9400 GS

I'm new to MythTV and having hassles getting it configured properly
I have been using Linux for years.

My cable bill says I'm paying for digital cable, and HDTV channels.
I have the Brighthouse Cable Box for the HDTV channels 600s, 700s etc. I also have a TV connected direct into the cable line which gets channels 2 - 70 & 99 (TV Guide).

Cable -> HDTV Cable Box <- HDMI -> TV

Would Like to

Cable ---> HDTV Cable Box <--- HDMI ---> HD TV
(b) (a)
| |
-> TV Tuner OR -> TV Tuner
(a) preferred so I can watch the HDTV channels on the Computer
(b) optional so I can at least watch some channels on the Computer

I have a Haupauge PVR-1800. I read somewhere that it requires kernel modifications, I am happy to do that if necessary (would prefer not if possible).

My TV tuner card has three connectors marked AM/FM , Cable , DTV
Internal it is connected to a daughterboard at the front of the computer which has composite and S-Video.

I would like to connect from the CableBox to get the HDTV channels on the computer, but if I have to I can connect direct into the cable.

Right now I have a cable coming out of the Cable Box into the PVR-1800, Yet on channel 4 I can see what the Cable Box is tuned into, but I can not access any other channels???

I would like to learn/prove I have digital cable or is this analog?

Please can someone guide me on how to connect this and get it working

My goal is to record and then watch shows at my time, while working on my computer.

Thanks
