After an error free install of the O/S (Server 9.04), successful "apt-get update" and successful decompressing of desktop environment using "apt-get install ubuntu-desktop" my screen resolution seems to be somewhere higher then 800 X 600 which the dislpay adapter can handle (when it was running as a Windows machine) but I can read the right side of the screen. It seems to be refreshing at some odd normal rate. I would like to know how to resolve this. My thoughts are to adjust the resolution/refresh rate from the CLI before loading the desktop. Any ideas as to how to get this done easily?

If you are running an nvidia or ati card, you might go to System > Administration > Hardware Drivers and enable the appropriate driver for your graphics card.
