I have a 700m laptop from dell, and i'm running 9.1 karmic koala, how do i get fluxbox to recognize my devices like gnome does???

did the drivers not load? or am i doing something wrong?

also, where the hell is the network manager in fluxbox? or do i have to edit the cfg scripts myself?

http://fluxbox.sourceforge.net/docbook.php

gnome is a desktop, it provides everything. fluxbox is a window manager you choose what you want to use.

yeap, you need to put nm-applet in the fluxbox startup.
