View Full Version : [ubuntu] Problems with multiple monitors

April 13th, 2010, 01:38 AM
So I want to set up 4 monitors on my 9.04 machine. I have already done research into the problem and it appears ubuntu does support this many monitors, but I cannot get it to work.

What I want to have when finished, is 3 monitors on my desk, with one up above them, with 1 digital and 1 analog on my onboard, and 1 digital and 1 analog on a card. Both onboard and card are ATI Radeon HD 3200 graphics cards.

So at the moment, I have the bios set to PCIE as the default with the other setting on (forget exactly what is it called) but it enables the use the onboard slots along with the PCI slots, and the BIOS seems to detect everything just fine as far as I can tell. When I boot into ubuntu, the BIOS checks up to the login screen are shown on monitor 3, while 1 and 2 are black; and then after I login monitor 3 goes black, and 1 and 2 show my desktop. Monitor 4 never does anything.

Monitor 1 is plugged into onboard analog
Monitor 2 is plugged into onboard digital
Monitor 3 is plugged into the cards analog
Monitor 4 is plugged into the cards digital

If anyone has any ideas on what I am doing wrong or how to fix this it would be much appreciated.

Thanks, AltusVultur
