Hi all,
I tried to install ubuntu desktop 64 bit version to ibm x3200 m3 server, but not success.
the error message is "no common cd-rom drive was detected..."
I tried, use alternate cd, but still same error.

I success installed ubuntu 9.10 desktop 32 version to that server.
How to upgrade from 32 version to 64 version?
the purpose of upgrade is:
- to make query process faster in mysql.

I installed apache + php + mysql in that server, and often make query that have to display in web browser about 5,000-10,000 data.
at this moment it take 2-3 minutes.
I hope with 64 bit version, the time can be shorter.

Thanks for any help.

The only way to go from 32 bit to 64 bit is installing the 64 bit over the 32 bit. There is no upgrade like from 9.04 to 9.10.
It's totally different.

hi 2hot6ft2,
is the installation can be done without booting from CD?

Yes, Read Ubuntu's Community Documents: Installation (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation).
