I'm trying to change the theme my Login window and having trouble

What i did was

1. System > Preferences > Appearance > theme tab > clicked the get more themes on-line hyper-link > this took me here http://art.gnome.org/themes/ (http://art.gnome.org/themes/)

2. Downloaded the GDM-CompetingEntities.tar.gz theme > was downloaded to /home/jamie/downloads > went back to Appearance theme tab > clicked install pointed to the /home/jamie/downloads dir > clicked the GDM-CompetingEntities.tar.gz

3. Got error message ""CompetingEntities" does not appear to be a valid theme"

i'm i doing this wrong or is something up???

My distro is Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala with all the latest updates installed

sorry for being such a noob

you need to get the gnome-art package (via synaptic)
