This is a post, that i hope newcommers to linux can have use of.
Their is alot of people that want to try out linux, and sure go for it. But linux runs better on some hardware then others, ive noticed that their is some questions about this.

Their is a HCL - Hardware Compatibility list. The point of the list, is to check (before you invest in a new computer) if the hardware you want to buy is well supported in the Open Source community.

http://www.google.dk/#hl=da&source=hp&q=ubuntu+hardware+compatibility+list&aq=1&aqi=g3&aql=&oq=ubuntu+hardware+co&gs_rfai=&fp=3df8e7f73cf6d74d

It can be a real deal braker to buy a top nodge new computer, install linux on it. And it just wont work:confused:.

Just a quick thread, that i hope some can get a little use of.

Kind Regards
:KS

+1 .. but may not be German .. does not go to the hardware compatibility list, which is a good reference page.

Iknow http://www.ubuntuhcl.org/

And no i was not pointing directly to that site. (on purpoes)
Since i'am not 100% sure that the HCL list is 100% the same for the driffent variants of ALL linux distributions.

BUT
if anybody (before posting) would use the link
http://www.google.dk/#hl=da&source=hp&q=ubuntu+hardware+compatibility+list&aq=1&aqi=g3&aql=&oq=ubuntu+hardware+co&gs_rfai=&fp=1&cad=b
the http://www.ubuntuhcl.org/ is at the top #1 on the page. !O.o! Noooooooo Wayyyyyyyyyyyyy

EDIT:
From http://www.ubuntuhcl.org/
Our mission is to provide a forum for users of Ubuntu Linux to share their experiences with different hardware, to ease the transition of new users to Ubuntu Linux, as well as help users pick the right hardware for their Ubuntu Linux system.

So this is NOT for all linux variations. And my thread (correct me if iam wrong) says all variations
[all variants] To newcommers. linux HCL list

You probably meant this page (http://www.google.com/search?q=linux+hardware+compatibility+list). :)

Google pages are worthless, every distro uses the same kernel, and there isn't a single complete compatibility list anywhere.

This only serves as flamebait.

Nixclusive. I ment the page i linked to.

J V. Just because you find some information "useless" then somebody else might find it "usefull". Do you see the driffence? do you just go around and flame beacuse in your worthless day you dont have anything else to do? Sad.

This is an INFORMATION to those who would use it. I did not link to a specific page nor did i mean anything ELSE then what i wrote. And those who find www.google.?? worthless are people who dont understand how to use a search-engine.

So to clear things up.

#1 People who flame. Get a life (thinking abou you J V)
#2 www.google.?? arnt worthless unless your a flaming tard (thinking about J V again)
#3 People who have no usefull feedback to a thread and gives reply like #2, #3, #5, #8, #9 go away? or give some usefull feedback
#4 Read the thread before replying. Use the links given before you draw a conclusion on what i might or might not mean with something. If your not sure......Ask?

Only 1 reply has been usefull and that is #6. He is not sure what i mean and theirfore asked.

Is this bla bla bla, (question).
And then i can reply.
No bla bla bla (answer).
