My friend recently showed me gnome-look.org and there's a lot of really cool stuff on there. I was looking around and saw a really cool GDM login screen that I want to use (http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php/linux_fingerprint_GDM?content=101361). The only problem is that I don't know how to use it. I already downloaded the file for it, but I don't know what to do next. Any help you guys might be able to give would be great. Thanks!

Custom GDM login screens have been disabled in Ubuntu 9.10. However, I'm not sure if they restored it in 10.04. You'll just have to wait until 10.04 to find out. Sorry :(

They haven't put it back in 10.04 :(

I don't know if this works for 10.04 yet http://www.ubuntugeek.com/gdm2-setup-a-login-interface-management-utility-for-the-new-gdm.html

If not post back and I know a quick dirty hack. :)

1. They took out that feature? That's lame.
2. Has 10.04 come out yet? If not, when does it?
3. What's this "quick dirty hack" you speak of? I'm interested.

Only the General Tab works thus far. You can't change the background image with it, nor can you change the theme. well you can select one from the drop down in decoration but it doesn't get applied. That said I think the makers are trying to get a version that works with Lucid into its repo.

Well you can change the login screen again now in 12.04. Thanks to everyone who helped here.
