I
Vorbis website informs

me that It's not really valid to evaluate Vorbis with the variable bit rate concept and thatat really be? I mean is that "really" only 192 or just how it interprets the .ogg file.

And.. given
chieve other than create a much larger file size?

Q6 has a bitrate of 192000. From what I gather Ogg Vorbis functions much more efficiently with lower bitrates than MP3.

I use oggencode for all of my music collection quality 10. Still a compressed file but darn good quality. I can't tell the difference from q 10 vorbis to flac and high vbr mp3lame files. I fall back to vorbis because it's opensource and works great.

HI,

Why does the vorbis site claim that Q6 offers "near CD quality" then as opposed to Q10?
just curious..

Thanks
