I am planning on upgrading 9.04 to 10.04. I skipped 9.10 on my two machines because:

1. I read people had problems using the GeForce 7600 GT with dual monitors
2. I read people had weird video problems with the MSI Wind U120

I am very excited about 10.04, but I am wondering what I will need to do in order to upgrade from 9.04.

If I have to upgrade via 9.10 and have video problems along the way, will it be safe to upgrade to 10.04 from a terminal?

Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

I would vote against it until Ubuntu 10.04 has been fully released. It's still in beta stage which means you can expect serious bugs!

Make backups if you have important data which needs keeping would be my advice before proceeding.

Oh, I should clarify. I was planning on waiting until 10.04 is released, but I was just wondering what I would need to do when that happens.

I cannot say exactly how it looks like on your hardware configuration and if the new kernel in 10.04 will bring you problems, hopefully things will be good!

Doing the upgrade is gonna be like usual when you install upgrade packages. You'll gonna see a package which allows you do the the full distribution upgrade once it's available.

Good luck!

If dual monitors causes a problem, convert to one.... do the upgrade..... go back to two.
