View Full Version : [SOLVED] Use live cd to find inaccessible files?

Hi, I have seen this posted but not a solution I can figure out.

I can boot up until I get: GConf error. failed to contact configuration server; some possible causes are that you need to enable TCP/IP networking for ORBit, or that you have stale NFS locks due to a system crash. Details- 1: Could not send message to GConf Daemon:Message did not receive a reply (timeout by message bus)

I can see my files from the command line: cd ~/Desktop but don't understand how to copy them to my flash drive. Or even how to mount my flash drive.

Thought of booting up my Super OS 9.10 liveCD but don't know what command to use to go from the liveCD to my messedup Ubuntu partition.

Any help would be appreciated...written fairly explicitl.

Thanks, Sharon

Thanks for the tip; will look into it. Have copied off some of my files but the main access problem is not fixed.

I'll mark this solved as I've run out of time to work on the problem for awhile.

Still love Ubuntu and all of the helpful folks!
