I have an old Compaq DeskPro that I want to install Ubuntu 9.10 on. Unfortunately, the system isn't CD-ROM bootable, so I can't install from the disk. (I've looked for a BIOS upgrade that will fix the problem, but haven't found one yet. The CD-ROMS are recognized, I just can't boot from them.) Does anyone know if there is a way to install Ubuntu without using a CD-ROM?
Of course if anyone knows a way to make these CD-ROMs bootable, I'd settle for that!
Thanks,
Peter V.
