Recover data

I have a day job supporting ******* users (have to pay the bills lol) I recently imaged/ghosted a machine ...the user now says that some of his data was not copied over to the hard drive before I imaged the machine. Is there any way that i can recover data using a Ubuntu Live CD at all ?

i don't understand, was the imaged/ghosted drive wiped out ? Have you installed something else above?
