After upgrading to Ubuntu 9.10, the login screen does not display properly. All I see is the background image. I am able to move the mouse cursor, but not user list or anything else shows up. I've tried using both the nvidia and nv display drivers, but in either case the same problem occurs. If I boot into recovery mode, the text login is shown and I can jump straight to the desktop by starting the X server. This bypasses the graphical login screen. Help would be appreciated.
