no sound

Hello.

Last night my PC was working just fine, but today the sound is gone, I can't hear anything.
Could this have happened because I updated the system?

I'm new to PCs so bear with me. :) Thanks.

Is this karmic? Did you inadvertently upgrade to lucid?

Open a terminal="Applications>Accessories>Terminal"
Enter this command:

uname -a
