View Full Version : [ubuntu] no common cd-rom drive was detected in IBM X3200 M3

Hi all,
try to install ubuntu 8.04 into ibm server x3200 m3, but fail.
the process stop when no common cd-rom drive was detected.
googling it and tried with:

guide in
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=964904&page=7

but still not work,
any idea what else can be try to solve this problem?

i success install it with ubuntu 9.10 alt cd, but not for ubuntu 9.10 amd64.
using ubuntu 9.10 alt cd, it is smooth, without error "no common cd-rom ..." and i don't do/type anything.
I did check md5sum on both cd (9.10 32 and 64 cd iso), both is OK.
I really wonder why not work in 64 version?

Anyone install ubuntu 64 bit in IBM server?

Finaly I can install using ubuntu 9.04 64 bit alternate cd.
i find more information at http://webapps.ubuntu.com/certification/list/?category=Server

but now i have problem, i can not update/ install anything.
it is not happen when i success install 9.10 32 bit alternate cd.

hmm...., long way to make ubuntu run properly

As I prefer use 64 bit, but the system can not be update.
