View Full Version : [kubuntu] VPN Connection to Work is Slow.

April 7th, 2010, 09:34 PM
Hi, Every now and then I connect into work through a secure vpn connection that used to be reasonably fast. Sometime in the last year or so it has slowed down dramatically as if they added a one minute delay between pages. Everything works fine otherwise. It's just slower. At work they use all microsoft software, server software, etc. and if I connect in my friend's laptop with Windows 7 it works quite well and the pages load quickly like my Kubuntu laptop used to. What I'm wondering is if this is some kind of compatibility issue between Windows explorer and Firefox browsers or just a sour grapes issue on Microsoft's behalf where they slowed things down on purpose?

Thanks for your help,

What vpn are you using?

Not exactly sure except that the webpage is called "webVPN Portal".

I think that is a Cisco VPN, and I'm afraid I can't help you very much as I'm not familiar with it, but rather than a full VPN, it is a web interface. My first check would be with the settings in Cisco IOS/WebVPN.

Ok, Thanks.

I may ask around at work about this.
