Are there any guides that explain the expert installation of ubuntu using the alternate cd? I have been using ubuntu for some time now and would like to be able to have better control over how my system is setup.

It is easier than it sounds. I was able to use the alternate installer as a noob

The only problem with using an expert install cd is it failing to install grub. Once. On an old IBM thinkpad A21p. Good luck with it though.

The basic alternate install is easy for me since it is very close to the graphical version.

The one I am asking about is the expert option selected by pressing F6 on the cd's menu page where you select what you want to do.

Are there any tutorials for this version of the installation?
