Songbird drops linux support. Will there be a fork?

As I'm sure you have already read, Songbird has dropped support for Linux. I for a long time had been hovering between Songbird and Banshee but eventually settled on Songbird as it suited me best. Since hearing about them dropping support I have been wondering, as the project is open sourced, will people who do like it create a fork of it and continue it on? I think it would be a shame to see no further development of it on Linux. I think it is such a bad move for them and I hope they realise how bad it is but until then we can't hold any hope so do you think a fork will appear of Songbird?

It is sad , I use it myself, but you can't blame their developers for going for the os's with the highest amount of users

Lyrebird was already mentioned in the comments under the Songbird announcement. I suggest, if you like Songbird and have the skills, you should join this project and see what sweet Linux-only features you can add to Songbird (or LyreBird in this case) to make it competitive with the Windows/Mac versions.

I won't be using it or developing it since I personally lost interest in the project a long time ago, but I do think it'd be nice to finally give it some syncing features through libgpod, libusb, fuse, whatever, and give it some video playback features if you really think it needs it. At the very least, we can have a ghetto version of Songbird for Linux, just like that old Winamp 2.x for Linux.
