Hi All.
I have some small question about updating some programs. First how do one update ones VLC Media Player from version 1.0.2 to version 1.0.5? Second how does one update ones Firefox from version 3.5.8 to version 3.6.1? Last how does one update ones KDE from version 4.3.2 to version 4.4? I am very sorry to ask this. But I am very new when it comes to KUbuntu which is the one I installed. And hope you can help me with these question. And wishes to say KUbuntu is better then Windows.
Yours

You can run the update manager. it should be somewhere in your start menu. when the program opens, click check for updates. once that finishes, click on the install updates button

To learn how to add a repository...

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Repositories/Ubuntu

You can add the VLC repository to your software sources, using the instructions here...

http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-ubuntu.html

This will keep your VLC up to date, likewise you can find a repository for KDE.

Firefox should be taken care of via the official repositories.

Also note that Lucid Lynx is due out by the end of the month or so, and that should have the latest and greatest. Firefox 3.6.2, KDE 4.4.2, and so on.

I've been running Lucid exclusively since the 2nd alpha, and it's been so good that I've dumped my old Karmic install.

Having said that, it *is* a beta, so all the usual warnings apply. You might want to install it as a dual boot so you can play with it.
