i have tried following the guides given here:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/FromUSBStick
and
http://mintarticles.com/read/operating-systems-articles/how-to-install-portable-linux-ubuntu-on-a-bootable-usb-flash-drive-from-sun-virtualbox,13641/

i have managed to install ubuntu onto the USB and everything is working fine but the problem i am having is that i can't seem to access the bios on the netbook so i can't boot from the USB.

i managed to get acess to the root files using this guide: http://194.150.201.35/cnmlifestyle/downloads/rootaccess.htm

all i need to do is figure out how to get access to the Bios so i can change the settings so it boots from USB.

thank you in advance

Looking at the specs, I see no chance that computer will run Ubuntu, sorry. :(

Recommended minimum requirements

Ubuntu Netbook Remix should run reasonably well on a computer with the following minimum hardware specification.

* 700 MHz x86 processor
* 384 MB of system memory (RAM)
* 6 GB of disk space
* Graphics card capable of 800x600 resolution and 3D (OpenGL)

Supported graphics cards

* ATI cards (R6xx/R7xx may require the proprietary fglrx driver)
* Recent Intel cards (i915 or better, except GMA 500 / Poulsbo / SCH)
* NVidia cards with the proprietary NVidia driver

damn, is there any other distro that you would recommend that would work on the netbook?

I am not familiar with this device, sorry. The specs look very limited. What operating system is installed on it now?

the current operating system is based on debian linux

Ubuntu is also based on Debian; I see no compelling reason to switch. :) Debian supports a much wider range of hardware than Ubuntu (which only supports the popular i386 and x64 architectures, not the weirdo mips processor in your Elonex).

I assume you have used the Search feature to see if other users have had success/failure with Ubuntu on this hardware?

the reason for the switch is because the OS installed on the netbook is awful.

i also did a quick search and it came out with nothing on the Onet+, all i was able to find were topics on the newer models.
