Hi everyone,
I've been happily running 9.04 since it came out last year. Yesterday I routinely downloaded and applied the UPDATE MANAGER updates. Since then, whenever I try to shutdown, my system freezes while displaying these error messages --
/dev/sda1
"setting Advanced Power Management level to 0xfe (254)"
/dev/sdb1
"setting Advanced Power Management level to 0xfe (254)"
Since the system freezes I am forced to physically turn off the computer using the Power Button. Ubuntu then forces me to do a disk check upon startup (fsck), the kind of disk check you have to perform at the command line. This renders my current OS install of little practical use.
My system is a Dell L933R Pentium III (933 mhz/ 512M / 40 + 60 g).
Thank you for your help.
