View Full Version : Surprised the amount of Games Ubuntu & Wine can run

I have just been on a mission, trying to install some older games DEMOS, including Halo & Call of Duty 2, tomb raider 2 and I have got to say I am really surprised that not only these games install, but only have really minor issues, but do not get in the way of gameplay.

Call of Duty 2 is almost perfect, in fact you would not realise you where actually running this in Ubuntu.

Halo installed fine, works, gets a bit choppy but I am sure with a bit of tweaking would be fine.

Tomb Raider 2 sometimes just crashes, but again its perfect.

Is it just me or has Wine really improved over the last couple of years?

I can also run Dreamweaver 8 and Photoshop 7 perfectly.

I remember the days when I would install these two and there would always be some issue with them. If it was not rubber banding and debris being left on the screen when dragging Windows, it would be the export to .gif option missing in Photoshop. Dont get any of these hassles these days.

I think I'm going to try some more demos....
