What sort of auto-tune are we talking about? (this isn't an audio question is it?) if you want to schedule task like running a program every so often you can use cron (schedules tasks), and any of the many free packages available.

It is my understanding that Auto Tune is a stand alone studio plug in.

http://www.antarestech.com/products/auto-tune-evo.shtml

As with most programs for the studio it is available in PC and Mac only.

First of all, please don't. The world doesn't need any more of that effect.

If you must, however, Antares products are the industry standard.

Lol, I had no idea what you were talking about so i looked it up.
The threads below might be of interest. My understanding is this is a synth like audio manipulation tool.

I Play guitar, and write some music. This auto tune sound is hot right now, so I figure why not.

Wait, wait, wait.

You're going for something that sounds popular, rather than what sounds good, using a machine to get yourself there?

WHAT KIND OF MUSICIAN ARE YOU?!

(Oh, general mainstream you say? Talent is dead? You want to make money? EMI? Sony? iTunes? 2010? This all makes sense, carry on. For a minute I thought you were making actual music, rather than what teenaged know-nothings gobble up.)

Edit: It's still April Fools day here, so bear with me.

The Linux one is garbage it just crashes what ever one I try it in. If I leave it on default settings it doesn't do anything.

Some people are pretty good singers, but won't get every note 100% on target the first try. Autotune helps minimise time spent in the studio re-recording everything, and it lessens the amount of cutting and pasting of audio tracks needed to get a 'perfect' recording.

So no, it's not just useful for Britney Spears.

Belinda Carslyle .. she carried a guy that used a PHYSICAL pitch corrector out front (Made by Orban) and that was his ONLY job. So what she was getting in the monitors was way out of tune "in hopes she could correct it herself". Robert Palmer would run for the bus the moment she hit the stage!

a tool is a tool...

I found and installed the .deb package of Autotalent, the Autotune clone, and tested it. It works for me, though I don't need it except for a social commercial where it has context...

I found the link to the .deb package of Autotalent here:

http://ardour.org/node/3425

and from there found the link to the .deb package directly here:

http://www.bandshed.net/checkinstall/autotalent_0.2avlinux-1_i386.deb (http://www.bandshed.net/checkinstall/autotalent_0.2avlinux-1_i386.deb)

note, the .deb is 32-bit I think

Better idea for autotune usage: start a YouTube series titled "Autotune the Mews" and make songs with cats.

The question is: do cats like Ubuntu? Maybe if there was an Autofeeder for Kitties in add/remove programs they would, lol...

Of course. My goal is to get YouTube consisting of nothing but cat videos and create a perfect cat singularity which swallows the universe.

Paris Hilton did an entire album with autotune.

Which is a shame because she can really sing.

I was honestly wondering if there was a program I could use to make autotuned vids...
Not like I think it's cool or anything, it's very immature... and bad sounding... and detracts from talent... and other stuff...
