Why is canonical dropping support for xsane in lucid? :|

What is it supporting instead of xsane? Apart from the cli, I'm not aware of anything else to replace it. Surely it's not going from the repositories, is it?

simple-scan is replacing xsane in lucid.

simple-scan is replacing xsane in lucid.

Which is horrible imho.

xsane scans faster.

Because xsane scares people like my wife, and simple-scan doesn't :) It's true it's not as robust and certainly not as featureful.

It nearly causes my printer/scanner combo to have a heart attack when it scans. It should have an option to forego the "Show scanning" feature.
