It's April fools. The ruling 2 days ago may have something to say about Ubunto's future. The ruling by the supreme court was about the Unix brand name.

Most likely.
Still, I'm a n00b, so I'd still not try it out, you give it a try? :D

Great to hear that using Ubuntu will improve my memory.

What does it do?If your system is backed up you can try anything once. (image). Don't want to try. Evil was not qualitative, but antithetical BS. That's bad man...

Pretty sure skierkyles tried it. ;)

I also tried it, and it indeed just echo's "April Fools!"

[joe@desktop ~]$ echo -e "\0101\0160\0162\0151\0154\0040\0106\0157\0157\0154 \0163\0041"
April Fools!

Cool. :)
Can somebody explain how it works?

I tried it as alt codes, but 0101 is 'e' [mind you, this is a windows box [don't shoot me]].

\0 makes it an Oct code. So, Octal 101 = Dec 65 = 'A'.

\0 makes it an Oct code. So, Octal 101 = Dec 65 = 'A'.

This is right. All echo does is print out in your console exactly the same thing you tell it to print. The -e tells echo to translate anything that comes after the '/'. So it's just the octal values for the ASCII codes that print out April Fools.

Echo is harmless. it's just like the Basic Print command.

Result: April Fools! Nothing more sinister, but a good jest...
