Just started on C#, downloaded Mono, started my first program (the default "Hello World" one) and it came up with;
Build failed. Executable not found: /usr/bin/gmcs
Help!
I am running it on a PC with Hardy Heron.

C# is for when you want to be a Microsoft programmer.
anyways, if you want to run your program you either have to specify your apsolute path name or add the program PATH variable or put the program in some place where the OS can find it like the bin directory.

C# is for when you want to be a Microsoft programmer.
Not really, C# is gaining popularity for many open-source and/or linux/unix/mac projects.
There are almost an equal number of programs registered on sourceforge written in C# as in Python :P (about 12,000)

C# is cross-platform :p
It's like me saying, 'Python is for when you want to be a Canonical programmer' ;)
