Wow, looks like Microsoft is planning an optional service pack update that will include a stripped down ALT OS version of Ubuntu with customized tools for the repair and maintenance of MS software packages. Details concerning which Ubuntu version have not been released. Exact date of the service pack release has also not been released.

Hold the phone the link just posted has been removed. Might be a MS April fools joke, or someone might have thought that April 1st was a bad release date.

I hope they plan to close source Ubuntu and put it under a really restrictive EULA. I don't want any open source in my glorious Windows installation. :D

I don't want any open source in my glorious Windows installation. :DBelieve it or not I was looking to see if I could find a sense of humor at MS press box, but the artical I was reading was quite detailed for a joke. I will look in my cache to see if I can find it...

Never would they release their source code or use Linux (unless they use it on their servers, which is severely unlikely seeing as they use .aspx instead of .php)

Look like they're selling teeshirts already...

Due to the small HDD space for my Ubuntu installation Firefox cache is purged upon program exit. No backup copy... No joy...
