Some interesting info on this article posted on Mozilla Blog (http://blog.mozilla.com/blog/2010/03/31/introducing-the-mozilla-state-of-the-internet-report/):

Today, the Mozilla metrics team released the first ever State of the Internet report. With more than 350 million people around the world using the Firefox Web browser, we are careful to ensure the data we collect is fairly limited and feel compelled to share what we’re able to extract from that data.

Some interesting findings from this report:

* Looking across several sources of market share data, Firefox’s worldwide share appears close to 30%.
* Usage/Adoption of Firefox this quarter grew most dramatically in Russia.
* Where do people get the earliest start to their day? Hawaii, Wyoming, and Maine. And the latest start? New York.
* People in South America and Antarctica are passionate about personalizing their browser.
* In one usage study, we found one person having more than 600 tabs open at one time. (This last insight comes from Test Pilot, Mozilla Labs’ platform for opt-in participation in studies and experiments.)

See the full report from Ken Kovash on the Mozilla Metrics Blog (http://blog.mozilla.com/metrics/2010/03/31/mozillas-q1-2010-analyst-report-state-of-the-internet/).

600? That does not sound like much.
Can we get the RAM and CPU useage over 20 seconds with em open so Opera can counter it? :P

LOL, I had over 1200 tabs open at once a couple of days ago. Got a little crazy with MultiLinks. They were small pages ~50K apiece or so but I was curious if FF would choke on it but it didn't.

I'll keep holding down cmd+t until it crashes, I guess. It's gone up to about 240mb RAM.

It is all RAM. If you have 64-bit firefox you can map multi-gb memory easy. When you start swapping it gets a little harsh. If each one of those tabs had flash you would be hard pressed after 60 I am willing to bet, depends on the machine. I test memory pressure on my machine by booting with a parameter that limits my RAM to 256mb. Watching youtube on 64-bit with that low is a chore. Another test I do for big RAM is to try to render a large SVG image into GIMP, like 25000x25000 it runs me into SWAP in a hurry even on 3gb.
