Hi ,
I am a ubuntu user and I recently installed KDE by installing Kubuntu-Desktop package . But the problem is kubunu multimedia applications such as Amarok , Dragon player don't run.
For e.g. Amarok opens when I click "Open with Amarok" but it doesn't play any track. Problem persists even if I mount some media folder.
I have used KDE before , but there was no such problem. Also it asked me only once for kodek downloads for kubuntu.

it doesn't start playing, or it doesn't play any sound?

try and start amarok from a terminal, open an mp3 and see what's the output.

Have you installed some restricted extra's?
Try and read this (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RestrictedFormats)

It opens but doesn't play anything . Is it because of the additional packages I need to install for mp3 etc. ?
I didn't do that for Amarok. Can I download those needed packages from ubuntu since I am unable to setup connection in kubuntu ? Thanks for replying !
