how about i just dont spend my money on devices that don't support linux, and do my homework before purchasing? :D

That sounds an awful lot like Banshee, it terms of supporting media and syncing. It does not currently transcode videos but that is coming and pictures are handled by F-Spot (which is going to be moved to use the same foundation as Banshee).

It seems simpler to invest in filling the remaining gaps in Banshee, and if the UI needs a refresh then the design of Banshee's code lets us do that easily (we are talking roughly 2000 lines of code for even something advanced like the Cubano frontend).
