Always used Ubuntu, recently switched to Kubuntu 10.04 due to annoying problems in Ubuntu with sound. Anyway, when I resize a window it lags like hell, and a few other compositing effects are slow. I didn't have this problem with Compiz in GNOME, seems to be a KDE or Kwin thing. I'm pretty sure my laptop should be able to handle it. Using the Open Source ATI driver by the way (installed by default?).
