View Full Version : Health care: "reform" is it a good thing.

And that largely depends on what new "form" the "reform" puts us in, doesn't it.

"Health care IT. This sector is likely to have winners as President Obama makes a push for national, electronic health records. In other words, you won't have to explain your health needs every time you visit a doctor, specialist or pharmacy. Everything including medical records and appointments would be coordinated. "

So suppose Doctor Ducky tells me I have colon cancer, and that information goes on my electronic records, but I have my doubts, and want it independently confirmed (maybe by several different, independent clinics)

Fortunately, however none of those clinics actually have to do any independent work or thinking, because our wonderful electronic "e-health" system has already told them the verdict: I have colon cancer, and nothing less that 50K in procedures will do.

So I don't think this is a good thing, it is replacing "common sense" with "the computer made me do it".

What do you think?

One question that might be good to ask is, how will the reforms help the FOSS community?

Opinion: we'll get people blaming the computer, no matter what!

That would be appropriate, if the posts were civil.

Correct. So closing this thread since it has to do with politics not related to FOSS.
